Well, how about 2021 so far, eh? We REALLY try hard not to get political, but tech is so heavily tangled in politics right now that it is SUPER hard not to talk politics.
We kicked off the episode focused more on how the events of 2020, the quick jump to platforms like Zoom and more led to a further degradation of our on-line privacy protection -- as if there was much there in the first place!
Then we moved on to what we both agreed, might be a legit reason to repeal Section 230 -- which is something that President Trump has been trying to bake into recent COVID relief law. If interested check out this 60 Minutes segment that sparked our conversation.

This week, we celebrate our first in-studio guest from Studio 1A (our midwest location)! Grant Giszewski (the last name might ring a bell for some listeners) joined us to discuss a variety of film industry technology in addition to how some of that tech can be used to enhance social video and more.

Ep. 079 - Discussing GPT-3 and the Twitter cropper bias controversy
Monday Sep 28, 2020
Monday Sep 28, 2020
In this episode, Bob & Kevin welcome our first paid sponsor - https://baty-barr.media to the show... well, technically, Josh has been our producer, editor, and engineer for a few episodes now, but this week he PAID US! Then, of course, we paid him to produce this week's show... LOL
Anyway, back to the episode description... Bob & Kevin discussed the recent tweets and discussions around the twitter cropper and racial bias and then shifted to the main topic of conversation GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) - a language-based General AI. Take a listen and find out all the ways it has been used thus far in a limited beta program and get our thoughts on where this tech might be headed.

Ep. 078 - Thoughts on the Netflix documentary "The Social Dilemma"
Monday Sep 14, 2020
Monday Sep 14, 2020
In this episode, Bob & Kevin discuss the newly released, Netflix, documentary "The Social Dilemma" (https://www.netflix.com/title/81254224). If you have not watched it, we strongly encourage you to do so. Topics covered range from AI to social engineering and the impact that social media has on our world today and its threat to freedom as we know it.
Shortly after the show was recorded, this article was posted to Medium and we think it adds some great flavor to the discussion: https://medium.com/@jeff_seibert/the-mechanics-and-psychology-behind-the-social-dilemma-719d618aa8ce

In this episode...
Bob & Kevin discuss the https://hey.com/ email platform and their struggles with Apple (app store) to get and keep their app available to anyone that is interested. This brought the conversation around to "ecosystems" in general and the pros and cons of their existence.

Pop quiz for you Bob & Kevin Show listeners - when was the last time you COMPLETELY read a terms of service agreement for a website or software you have used? Yeah, we don't think we ever have either. Enter the hero of our story (sort of) https://tosdr.org/!
Yup, this site has a plugin that we eventually determined is quite helpful, but the site itself also gives you a quick snapshot of how crappy most companies are about their terms of service. Anyway, check it out and let us know what you think.
We also took some time at the beginning of the episode to discuss React JS and other javascript frameworks and how they impact front end web development.

Okay, solve maybe a bit of a stretch, but in the era of social distancing and Covid-19 we think the word needs to take a hard look at what grocery shopping currently looks like and adopt some more digital and touchless solutions.
The other softball topic (yeah right) we try to tackle involves the establishment of some sort of universal digital identification - you can probably guess where Bob rests on this issue, but you may be surprised on where Kevin ends up on the issue! Hey, if y'all can figure out where he stands on this, feel free to reach out and let us know, please ;)

Bob & Kevin discuss the recent flood of "list your security question answers here" types of social engineering social media posts that have been all over our social feeds in the recent "COVID lockdown era" and a few more topics related to social engineering, personal data leakage and more.
Amazingly, we actually feel like we DID solve some things in this episode, you will just have to listen to see what it is that we solved. In all seriousness, some good practical content in this episode (well at least we think so).

Yup, you knew it was coming - we had to discuss this beast and try to make some sense of it all - and yes, we had to take a tech angle as well. Bob & Kevin talked all things tech in a pandemic... well, not all things... but you know how we roll. We talked Zoom, bandwidth in the new #WFH era and more.

This week, Bob & Kevin challenged each other to write episode teasers for two possible Black Mirror episodes - and we think you will like what we came up with!
We opened the show with some discussions about China and Russia and their new regulations related to software within the boundaries of each nation.
What would a mid-December episode be without a discussion about the best tech-related Christmas gifts of the season? Bob & Kevin discuss three tech gifts each, with a couple bonus gifts as well.
As always, hit us up on twitter - and give us some feedback about the episode - maybe there will be some free swag in it for you! In this episode Bob & Kevin discuss the recent troubles with YouTube and content geared towards children and the violation of child data privacy rights. We also discussed how the various social media platforms each have their unique rule sets and personalities.
We also tackled the apparent flooding of social media with Jeffery Epstein memes and how they are influencing public opinion and speculate what (or who) may be driving this agenda.

Bob & Kevin continue their crusade against sketchy tech practices and in this episode discuss how the U.S. Government is taking issue with Tik Tok because it is an app developed out of China and it might be stealing our data... but apparently Facebook, Google and the like are just fine, because the government can actually request any of their data - or so Edward Snowden says!
We talk about some other tech stuff too. Hey, as always, reach out to us at https://twitter.com/bobandkevinshow and let us know what you like, what you don't like, or what you want to hear us discuss more of.
Thanks for listening!

Well, since everyone on the planet appears to be talking about Edward Snowden, we thought it was time that we weighed in. Bob & Kevin both recently listened to Mr. Snowden as a rare, remote guest on the Joe Rogan Experience (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efs3QRr8LWw) so we had to talk about the episode and a bunch around mass surveillance, our darn cell phones and how facebook just ruins everything for all of us!
We also discussed how the US government is basically in a "no lose" situation with Snowden and that Ed is basically in a "no win".
Of course, we discussed the area in the Snowden interview where he brought up aliens... and we had thoughts!

So, this week we decided to discuss the role of technology in the adult entertainment/porn/sex industry. We did do some research and all the links can be found below.
We started with some banter about a the recent admission by the U.S. Military that some videos of UFOs were indeed authentic, but then we quickly got into the main topic - the tech of sex.
We started the discussion around web technology and how the "adult industry" really has been the birthplace of many technologies used throughout the web today. We also discussed how sites like pornhub.com make their stats available for research and how staggering some of their numbers are.
We then moved onto app controlled, self-pleasure devices and the Autoblow A.I. v3.0 - yeah, we are not making this crap up!
We then moved onto the sex doll industry and the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence in the latest iterations of sex dolls.
Definitely listen to the episode and please check out some of the research we used for this week's show... it might not be the most "safe for work" research, but it is interesting for sure.

The latest episode of the Bob & Kevin Show can best be summed up by the following quote:
"I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and whats true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), the lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance."
- Carl Sagan 1995, The Demon-Haunted World

Join your favorite technology consumer advocates Bob & Kevin as they discuss Facebook giving us a real-time, Black Mirror prequel. Bob & Kevin also take a deep look at the "new monopoly" in tech, which is basically coming up with the most ubiquitous platform imaginable... hardware, software, original content... you know, what Apple is trying to become with the release of their fill in the blank plus original content platform. Oh, wow, guess what, this is also straight out of a potential Black Mirror prequel... have you seen 'Nosedive'? or watched our YouTube episode - https://youtu.be/wX-_GNGZXG8 ?

Well, in this week's episode, Bob & Kevin kick things off discussing a recent Joe Rogan Experience podcast episode with Jack Dorsey, Vijaya Gadde & Tim Pool because, well, it was an amazing cast on an amazing show. The funny thing is, when we listen to shows like that, we get a TON of validation of our topics for discussion. At about the midway point... we actually broke into the INTENDED topic for the show - encryption backdoors... and the ethics of such things!
The conversation was kicked off by a published paper that Kevin found online and our on-going debate about tech and ethical choices. The paper can be found here: https://digitalcommons.spu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=https://www.google.com/&httpsredir=1&article=1062&context=honorsprojects and the discussion is in the audio file attached with this episode... so what are you waiting for? Hit the play button already!

Ep. 026 - Suzanne Somers for 500 Please
Saturday Jan 12, 2019
Saturday Jan 12, 2019
Oh, boy... naming this episode was so TOUGH! We had quite a few discussions that contained some very interesting analogies and comparisons... so name options were abundant! Long time followers of the program will know that this is typically the time of year where we cover the CES show, and we did not stray from that topic this week. We discussed how some of the new tech is not all that new (big shock) about 4k and now 8k video (ugh) and how the XPS laptop camera is finally where all the other webcams of the world are positioned on laptops. Oh, and you know we rip on facebook, google, amazon and the other tech giants. We also discuss this new piece of exercise gear - https://www.mirror.co/

Ep. 024 - The gender dropdown discussion
Thursday Nov 15, 2018
Thursday Nov 15, 2018
I wish we could say we were sorry for the click bait, but one of the topics we covered tonight was the dropdown menu for gender. You will have to listen to the episode to hear how we covered it, but trust us... it is something worthy of discussion. We also discussed how our combined journalistic talents are on par with the rest of the world of tech news, in our humble opinions... LOL
As always, give it a listen and let us know what you think! Until next week...

Ep. 022 - Bob & Kevin catch up and cover all the random topics
Wednesday Oct 31, 2018
Wednesday Oct 31, 2018
We jump back into it this week after both of us have been crazy at work, traveling all over, and just dealing with everything that life has been throwing at the two of us the past couple of weeks. Don't worry, we still talk about twitter and facebook... we even discuss the new facebook video calling thingy??? What the heck is that all about anyway. Not gonna lie, we are both a little out of practice and we even forgot to really start AND end the episode... so, we hope you enjoy this completely raw and barely edited, very special episode. As always, feel free to hit us up on twitter (https://twitter.com/bobandkevinshow) and let us know what you think of the episode. Have a great week!

Ep. 021 - Remote work habits - good, bad and ugly
Wednesday Oct 17, 2018
Wednesday Oct 17, 2018
This episode could be title true confessions of a remote worker... but we thought that was a bit too click bait-ish... who are we kidding... We just thought of it as we were uploading the episode and the artwork was already done! Anyway, in this episode, our two courageous hosts give us a glimpse into the real life struggles of remote work in the 21st century. Frightening tales of killer chairs, bare feet, shower schedules and so much more. We really enjoyed this episode, because it is just another shining example of how two close friends can be completely different human beings.

Ep. 019 - How much privacy do our browsers really give us, and are there alternatives?
Wednesday Sep 05, 2018
Wednesday Sep 05, 2018
Yup, we talked about browsers tonight... something along the lines of browser wars version 3.0. Apparently firefox is coming out with a new version that blocks all tracking out of the box... then we find out that a browser called Brave also already does this out of the box! Kevin talked about a chrome plugin that lets you pick which scripts to block and Bob worried about what all this new browser stuff will do to his robust event tracking in google analytics. We also talked a bit about the social media hearings on the Hill today and what this all means for the future of truth in our worlds... tune in and let us know what you think!

Bob & Kevin discuss five technologies that are getting lots of buzz these days. We start with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning then we transition into Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality... then we finish with our old favorite... Good ole Blockchain. We approach each "New" technology, by defining it and then exploring its roots... some of which go WAY WAY BACK!
Join us for a magical journey were we learn a lot and make some pretty bold statements!

Ep. 008 - How do the new Facebook privacy initiatives impact app developers?
Thursday Jun 28, 2018
Thursday Jun 28, 2018
In this episode we welcome special guest Kevin Long (@socialimpostor) an entrepreneur behind many apps on various platforms. We brought Kevin in to speak about Facebook before and after the Cambridge Analytica events and how those revelations have impacted both users and app developers. We got DEEP into political influence, social impact and why this incident with Cambridge was singled out and so high profile. If you thought previous episodes were ripe with opinion, you have not heard ANYTHING yet! Please feel free to give us a subscribe... some star ratings and leave us some comments on either this episode or any of the topics we have covered.
